Jason MacLean Hired as New Director of Sport Performance

Jason MacLean, a Senior Performance Specialist with Ignition Athletic Performance Group (Ignition APG) will assume the athletic performance duties at Wilmington College.

He replaces Dan Ridenour, who left the College earlier this month for a position at the University of Nebraska. MacLean continues Ignition APG's partnership with Wilmington.

Since coming on with Ignition, MacLean has spent time in Ignition's in-house training programs as well as at our high school partnerships – serving as the head strength and conditioning coach for Little Miami High School. In addition, he oversees Ignition's sport science relationships and partnership with TeamBuildr, an athlete management software.

Prior to Ignition APG, Jason served as an exercise science faculty member at the University of Findlay where he taught a number of courses in the strength & conditioning major. In addition, he oversaw all the interns and worked closely with the school's performance staff on a number of initiatives.

Before moving into higher education, MacLean served as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Toledo  where he worked with women's basketball, volleyball, men's tennis and men's golf programs while also assisting with the Rockets men's basketball team.

Other professional stops include Louisville Trinity High School, University of Louisville Sports Performance, Louisville Sports Performance Institute, Denison University and Soar Fitness in Columbus.

Jason graduated from Otterbein University in 2013 and completed his master's in Exercise Physiology from the University of Louisville in 2015. He has professional certifications from the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, National Strength & Conditioning Association, and the American Heart Association.
