@DubC_XCTR women take eighth at OAC's

NEW CONCORD- The Wilmington College women's outdoor track and field team completed the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet, hosted by Muskingum University, on Saturday. Going into the final day of competition, the Fightin' Quakers were seeded tenth, with six points. At the end of the day and final point tallies, WC took eighth-place with 30 points.



  • Friday's Results:

    • Junior Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) earned third-place in the discus throw from a toss of 47.20-meters.

  • Freshman Emma Burke (Hilliard, OH/Darby) who was seeded fourth going into today's finals of the 100-meter hurdles after yesterday's prelim session finished finals still in fourth, with a time of 15.52.

  • The team of sophomores Cierra Johnson (Cincinnati, OH/Fairfield) and Brooklyn Payne (Chicago, IL/Chicago Agricultural School), junior Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Senior), and senior Angela Dorsett (Pittsburgh, PA/West Mifflin) took eighth with a seasonal best time of three seconds, 51.57, in the 4x100-meter relay.

  • The 4x400-meter relay also took eighth-place. The quartet of freshmen Burke, Kacey Burns (Milford Center, OH/Fairbanks), and Cheyenne Rhodes (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester), and Lovett crossed the finish line in another substantial season best time of 4:17.94.

  • In the triple jump, Johnson snagged a third-place spot on the podium with her jump of 11.00-meters.

  • Stacy achieved another third-place finish, this one in the hammer throw from a toss of 47.20-meters.



  • "I'm really proud of the way our team hung in there. We had some adversity in the prelims on Friday and then had to deal with the weather delay and issues today. I thought our athletes took advantage of the opportunities we had in today's events. They battled hard all weekend long and I'm really proud of the efforts they gave."



  • For the majority of the team, this meet marked the conclusion of the season. Those that are close to qualifying for NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships will continue on to Great Lakes Regionals in Delaware, OH on May 18.
