BEREA- The Wilmington College women's track and field team competed in the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday. The event, hosted by Baldwin Wallace University, started on Friday with several field event finals, as well as many running event prelims. Saturday saw the finals of all of Friday's preliminary events, as well as the finals of all events that were not contested on Friday.

The Fightin' Quakers, who came into day two with only eight points, finished the meet in eighth, of ten teams, with a total of 20 points.

  • Freshman Emma Burke (Hilliard, OH/Darby) turned in the first points of the day for the Fightin' Quakers with her fifth-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.07.

  • Burke then teamed up with sophomores Brooklyn Payne (Chicago, IL/Chicago Agricultural School) and Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Senior), and senior Angela Dorsett (Pittsburgh, PA/West Mifflin) for a 4x200-meter relay. The quartet earned eighth, crossing the finish line in 1:51.84.

  • Burke and Lovett were joined by freshmen Kacey Burns (Milford Center, OH/Fairbanks) and Cheyenne Rhodes (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) for the 4x400-meter relay. The group earned eighth with a time of 4:26.65.

  • In the field events, junior Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) turned in the highest finish for the team with her third-place finish in the weight throw from a toss of 16.12-meters.

  • To close out the top-ten finishes of the day, sophomore Cierra Johnson earned a tenth-place finish in the triple jump, with a distance of 9.94-meters.

  • "I was really proud of our team this weekend. We had a small group of qualifiers, but the kids gave a great effort. I thought we did a great job of taking advantage of the opportunities we had to score. We left a few points out there, but for the most part, I thought our team did a great job."

  • For many, this meet marks the end of the indoor season, but some will continue on to the last chance meet hosted by Ohio Northern on Friday and Saturday in an attempt to better their chances of qualifying for the NCAA DIII Indoor Championship.
