Women's Basketball Looks to Rebound Versus Heidelberg on Saturday



WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team opens the second half of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a 3 p.m. game against Heidelberg University at Hermann Court on Saturday afternoon.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Fightin' Quakers are an even 8-8 overall and 3-6 in the OAC after a 70-65 overtime loss at the hands of Otterbein University on Wednesday evening. The Student Princes stand at 4-12 overall and 2-7 in conference after a 67-44 loss to No. 10 Ohio Northern University.

The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 28th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, has amassed over 450 career victories. Morgan Herrigan, a 2009 Heidelberg alumna, is in her fifth season as head coach. She is also Heidelberg's Senior Woman Administrator.

The Players: Mackenzie Campbell leads Wilmington in scoring at 14.3 points per game while also grabbing 6.6 boards per game and dishing out a team-high 2.8 assists per contest. Emily Harman leads the team on the glass by averaging 7.1 rebounds per contest. Five other Quakers, including Savannah Hooper and McKayla Binkley, average over six points per game. Heidelberg has trio of Student Princes – Brittanie Ulmer, Madelyn Crawford and Alyssa Riley, who all scored between 10-11 points per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 66.1, Heidelberg 59.8; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 68.1, Heidelberg 74.6; field goal percentage – Wilmington 41.9, Heidelberg 34.3; three-point percentage – Wilmington 32.9, Heidelberg 29.0; free throw percentage – Wilmington 71.8, Heidelberg 71.6; rebounds per game – Wilmington 41.7, Heidelberg 38.6; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.68, Heidelberg 0.57.
