Title: Assistant Softball Coach

Tom Purtell is entering his 17th season as a Wilmington College assistant softball coach and his 17th year in Wilmington. He brings over forty-five years of coaching experience to the Lady Quakers softball program.  Purtell has had the privilege of working with head softball coach Beth Floyd for the last sixteen (16) years.

He has been associated with the Fairfield (Leesburg) Local High School Lady Lions softball program (Division IV) since its inception in 1978.  The Fairfield Lady Lions softball program has won 18 Southern Hills League titles, 30 Sectional Championships, eight Southeast District Championships, one  Regional Championship, and one State Final Four appearance.  Tom has served as the Associate Head Softball Coach for the past twenty-three years for the Fairfield (Leesburg) Lady Lions.
 
He was founder, manager, and coach of the Leesburg Lady Panthers travel softball program from 2000-2010.  The travel softball program fielded 12u, 14u, 16u, and 18u teams.  The Leesburg Lady Panthers program has sent forty (40) players on to play softball at the collegiate level.
Purtell graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University in 1973, with a degree in comprehensive mathematics education.  He is a senior partner and Director of Surveying Services of McCarty Associates, LLC in Hillsboro, Ohio.
