Mens' Soccer Hosts Earlham Wednesday for Quaker Bowl Rivalry Game

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team will welcome Earlham College to Williams Stadium for the annual "Quaker Bowl" rivalry game Wednesday at 7 p.m. 

The Teams: Wilmington and Earlham, The Fightin' Quakers are 3-1-0 after a 1-1-0 run in the Kiwanis Classic. The Hustlin' Quakers are 0-2-2 after coming to a draw with Illinois College. 

The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his second year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Aaron Gustine is in his first season as head soccer coach at Earlham after holding the position of assistant soccer coach for four years at Earlham. 

The Players: Elorm Dogbey has scored four goals for Wilmington and is tied for first in Ohio Athletic Conference standings for goals scored. Grant Murray leads the Fightin' Quakers in assists with two and also has scored one goal. Felix Maurer is currently leading the Ohio Athletic Conference in goals against average at 0.29. Drew FitzGibbon has scored the only two goals for the Hustlin' Quakers this season. Colin Kaurich leads Earlham with 12 saves in goal. 

Series History: Wilmington is 8-3-1 against Earlham and has won the last two meetings. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.

Quaker Bowl Rivalry: The athletics departments of Wilmington and Earlham have re-created the Quaker Bowl rivalry. Originally a traveling trophy for just football and men's basketball, the bowl will now be competed for across all sports the two schools compete in. Wilmington has won the last two years including a 6-4 win over the 2018-19 academic year.
