WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College baseball heads out to Ohio Northern for its final series of the season.
The Series: Two conference games will be played on Saturday afternoon with first game scheduled at 1 p.m. and the second scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern. The Fightin' Quakers are 9-26 on the season so far and are 1-15 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Wilmington aims to end its eight game losing streak with a win this weekend, giving the Fightin' Quakers its 10th win of the season; first time since the 2008 season. Ohio Northern is 27-11 overall this season and 11-5 in the OAC after a big offensive performance as they defeated Olivet (Mich.) 13-2.
The Coaches: Dan Cleaver enters his sixth season as part of the Wilmington College baseball program in 2018 including his fourth as head coach. Gene Stechschulte is in his seventh season as head baseball coach at Ohio Northern University.
Hitters to Watch: Josh Chua and Luke Kleindl. Chua leads the Quakers with his .323 batting average as well as doubles (14), hits (42) and RBIs (23). Kleindl who is hitting .306 on the season leads the team in on base percentage (OBP) with .414. Luke has also gathered three home runs and 19 RBIs this season. Senior Hayden Shenefield is hitting .448 on the season for the Polar Bears as well as picked up 13 doubles and 24 RBIs.
Pitchers to Watch: Joey Hollback and Jared Ferenchak. Hollback is sitting at a 5.24 ERA with a team leading 29 strikeouts through his 44.2 innings pitched. Fernechak has a team low 4.32 ERA through his 41.2 innings pitched. Jared has appeared in 10 games with eight being starts and is 2-5 in those starts. Josh Mohr has made 9 appearances and is 5-1 with a team low ERA of 1.07 through his 50.2 innings pitched.
Series History: The Fightin' Quakers are 5-13 against Ohio Northern since the 2009 season and is 1-9 in the past 10 matchups.
